Phillips Museum of Art at Franklin & Marshall College

The Phillips Museum of Art at Franklin & Marshall College is pleased to present a major reinstallation of its Nissley Gallery, showcasing works from our renowned collection.
The museum’s permanent collection gallery is named in honor of F&M alumnus Thomas W. Nissley ’55 and wife Emily Baldwin Nissley who together generously provided funding for its care and programming. Featuring over one hundred works, the exhibition is a broad sampling from the museum’s various core collections and includes Pre-Columbian, African and Japanese objects, regionally created furniture, fiber arts and crafts, as well as paintings, sculptures, works on paper and glass created from the 1800s to the present day. Many of the works by renowned artists as Thomas Hart Benton, Dale Chihuly, Käthe Kollwitz, Imogen Cunningham, Andy Warhol, Tom Wesselmann, and Jamie Wyeth among others. Since its charter in 2000, the Phillips Museum of Art at Franklin & Marshall College has been committed to collecting significant examples of material culture from ethnographic objects to art being crated today. The collection is evolving and we are deeply indebted to the many donors who have helped it grow, and through their generosity, share it with the community.
The Nissley Gallery reinstallation is curated by Amy Moorefield, Director and Lindsay Marino, Assistant Director and Collections Manager.
