Professional Experience:
11/2017– present: Director, Phillips Museum of Art at Franklin and Marshall College
As Director of the museum, originates, leads and supervises the activities of the museum as refers it to management of its staff, interns and student workers, grant and fiscal operations, exhibition and educational programming, local and national press, funds cultivation and reports to the Provost of Franklin and Marshall College. Represents the museum at regional and national civic events, faculty meetings, conferences and seminars. As chief curator, conceptualizes and organizes exhibitions of national and international artists as well as exhibitions utilizing the permanent collection. Seeks external gifts and grants to enhance the museum’s operations, facilities and collection development. Builds strategic external partnerships, and works with stakeholders interested the support of the museum and its activities. Chairs the museum’s art advisory and exhibition committees. Directs all aspects of exhibition catalogues, monographs and brochures for exhibitions. Responsible for envisioning and implementing 2020 purpose built Winter Fine Arts Building exhibition spaces and overarching public programming. Oversees the accreditation process and strategic vision of the museum and its collection.

9/2013 – 11/2017: Deputy Director of Exhibitions and Collections, Taubman Museum of Art
As Deputy Director of Exhibitions, oversees the creative leadership of the exhibition and collection program of the Taubman Museum of Art that encompasses eleven galleries (three dedicated to the permanent collection), an atrium and exterior areas of the museum totaling 88,000 square feet and 22-24 exhibitions per year. Supervises a staff including adjunct curators and reports as a member of senior directors to the Executive Director of the museum. Conceptualizes and organizes exhibitions of national and international prominence as well as develops exhibitions utilizing the permanent collection. Directs an earned income program from special ticketed exhibitions and a thriving traveling exhibition program. With the Development department, leads development of grants and sponsorship packages for exhibition and collection development. Oversees efforts with the educational department to create programs for all ages. Educates the large corps of docents and volunteers. Collaborate with the marketing department regarding exhibitions with a strategic marketing and publicity plan on a national platform. With the senior management team, builds strategic external partnerships, and works with stakeholders interested the support of the museum’s exhibition program and its activities. Directs all aspects of exhibition catalogues, monographs and brochures for exhibitions. Presents to and advises the Director and Board of Trustees on new exhibition initiatives. Cultivates and oversees in conjunction with the Executive Director, the acquisitions program of the museum’s collection including the oversight of the collections committee.

Curator of the Inter-Campus Loan program that provides artwork to departmental offices at VCU’s medical and academic campuses. As Publication Director, coordinates all aspects of exhibition catalogues, monographs and brochures for exhibitions at the Gallery and secures national/international distribution for the publications.

Fundraising Initiatives:
2019: Successfully wrote the social practice artist residency portion of grant awarded by the Endeavor Foundation with a total award amount of three million over three years for F&M.
2019: Received the first Pennsylvania Council for the Arts Entry Track grant for the Phillips Museum.
2018: Received a $75,000 NEA Our Town Grant in partnership with the City of Lancaster Public Art program to create artist capacity in partnerships with neighborhoods.
2018: As part of a team, co-wrote the grant and received funds from the Richard C. Von Hess Foundation for an collaborative Artist In Residency Program and related exhibition.
2013-2017: Successfully wrote several grants in the range of $25,000+ for exhibitions.
2013-2017: Cultivated and secured annual grant funding from the City of Roanoke
and Roanoke County for Taubman Museum of Art exhibition budgets.

Regional and National Collaborations:
2020: Curated exhibition Sonya Clark: Finding Freedom which will travel to the Telfair Museum of Art, Savannah, Georgia in Fall of 2020.
2020-present: Created a long-term exhibition partnership with the Governor’s Residence, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania using the Phillips Museum’s collection.
2018-present: Selected as one of six museums in the state of Pennsylvania to be part of the art loan and grant program Art Bridges founded by Crystal Bridges Museum founder Alice Walton.
2017-present: Co-Founder of Art Family. A membership group to support arts and cultural organizations and artists in Lancaster, Pennsylvania with over 100 members.
2013-2017: Conceptualized and facilitated a national traveling exhibition program for the Taubman Museum of Art to provide an earned income revenue stream.
2013-2017: Creation of a series of museum exhibition partners across Virginia.
2009-2013: Piloted the first permanent collection-sharing program for the Wilson Museum with the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.

2008-2013: Forged new collaborations in co-exhibition programming for the Wilson Museum with Roanoke College, Washington and Lee University, Piedmont Arts, High Museum of Art, and Jacksonville Art Center.
2008-2013: Forged new educational/advocacy/festival collaborative programming for the Wilson Museum with Arts Council of Blue Ridge, City of Roanoke Arts Commission, Roanoke County Schools Burton Center for the Arts and Sciences, City of Roanoke School Art Teachers, Community High School, Shadowbox Theatre, Taubman Museum of Art, Virginia Tech’s Center for the Arts, Virginia Tech/Carillion Medical Center, and Roanoke’s Marginal Arts Festival.
2008-2013: Conceptualized and directed a Wilson Museum traveling exhibition program with the North Carolina Museum of Art, the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Piedmont Arts among others.

2018-present: Forged a media sponsorship with WITF/NPR, and partnerships with FIG, Discover Lancaster, and City of Lancaster Office of Promotion.
2018: Rebranding of Phillips Museum design collateral and publications.
2008-2017: Build an active partnership with the Roanoke Valley Convention and Visitors Bureau including induction into the travel writer’s program.
2008-2013: Developed an annual community trade partnership with media and marketing partners for significant in-kind support of Wilson Museum programming including radio and print.
2008-2013: Created a robust web presence for the Wilson Museum’s social media platforms.
2009: Complete rebranding of all Wilson Museum design collateral, including website, publications, and gift solicitations.

Educational Initiatives:
2018-present: Creation of leadership/teambuilding workshops for the college community and outside groups including schools and executive leadership programs.
2019: Development and implementation of Phillips Museum programs including new collection tours, workshops, and classes.
2018: Creation of a museum F&M student worker corps including training and mentorship with over 25 student employees.
2013-2017: Partnered with the City and the County of Roanoke to provide exhibition and educational opportunities to a variety of student programs.
2010-2013: Partnered with Roanoke County & City Principals and Art Teachers to increase awareness of the Wilson Museum through enrichment certificate programs.
2009-2012: Led a citywide festival on renowned children’s book author Margaret Wise Brown and a two-part exhibition on the story and artwork of classic children’s books. Partner organizations included the Roanoke Symphony, Hollins University Theatre, the Children’s Theatre, and Taubman Museum of Art.

2019: Solicited and secured several gifts of African art to the Phillips’ collection.
2019: Acquired with endowment funds two important Käthe Kollwitz etchings for the Phillips’ collection.
2018: Solicited several gifts of important American art to the Phillips’ collection including two Edward Mitchell Bannister paintings.
2018: Solicited a gift of several modern and contemporary photographs including work by Paul Caponigro and Imogen Cunningham.
2013-2017: Worked with Taubman’s collection committee to propose several new gifts of American art approved by the museum’s board including by artists Robert Rauchenberg and Thomas Eakins.
2011-2012: Solicited and facilitated the gift of 150 original Andy Warhol photographs from the Andy Warhol Foundation’s Legacy Program.
2008-2011: Cultivated and secured over 200 new gifts of artwork for the Wilson Museum’s permanent collection from donors.
